Hello everyone
My mother has RA quite severely and this site was recommended by her consultant.
She doesn't use a computer herself but reads interesting stuff when I show her.
Here's wishing all members a happy new year

Hello Jean

Welcome to the forum. I am Sheila, aged 60, diagnosed 9 1/2 years ago and currently on methotrexate. It is good that you have posted for your mother. I have often thought how difficult it must be for people to get information these days if they can't use a computer. You can ask anything you like on here. There are lots of people on the forum and we all like to share our experiences, problems, etc. You will see from reading past posts that we ask, share, moan, have a bit of fun and generally help each other where and when we can. There is nothing your mum could want to know that we haven't already been asked so please feel free to ask whatever you like and whenever you like. Lovely to speak to you. I look forward to speaking to you again. What is your mother's name?

Sheila x

Welcome to you, Jean and your Mum.
This is a good place to come if you need to know anything or find out how others manage. It has certainly helped me since I was first diagnosed in 2008.
all the best for 2012

Hello and a big warm welcome to Jean and your mum. I was so very pleased to find this forum about 6 years ago, as I knew no-one else with RA. There is such a lot of information and empathy on here, and the forum folk will always try to help each other out.

Hope you and your mum keep posting,

Kathleen x

hi Jean,

welcome to you and your Mum,

you will find a lot of support and information here .. i always think of it like we wouldn't get a room full of RA sufferer's at the same time, with varying degree's and on different drugs.

so there is always someone here who can help if you have a question.

i've been diagnosed about 20 months now, am on Methotrexate and Hydroxy and added Humira to the mix at the end of August which is helping me.

look forward to hearing more frm you,

Suzanne

Hi Everyone!
Thank you so much for all the replies, it's somehow reassuring to know there are other people out there who know what mum is going through.
I think I mislead with the name ..... mums name is Jean and I'm Stella.
Mum is 80 and also has asthma and angina so I think we should call it the three A's in her case :-)
I live with her now as although she still tries to be independent it is easier for us both this way.
Mum has just started on methotrexate again - first time ended up with pneumonia so they stopped it.
Hoping for better luck this time.
Thanks again - I must say you have been very welcoming and we look forward to becoming part of your community
